About Corporate Nia

Hello. I’m Maria Contreras and I use the Nia Technique to deliver many business benefits and services. Having come from a corporate background myself, I have worked for the past 12 years in web design and business consulting. Outside of work I have always continued to dance, act and make music.

During working environments I used to brainstorm how could I integrate the fun and creativity that I gained from the things that I did outside of work that were so rewarding and enjoyable, and bring offer that to the more serious work environment.

And then after much soul searching I came up with my focus:
My intention is to change the way we work by bringing play to the workplace.

Firstly let us look a little closer at the word WORK.
Say the word ‘work’ and sense how you feel, listen to the sound, tone and pitch of the word. Write the word ‘work’ on a piece of paper and notice what it looks like and the shapes of the letters together. What energy does this give to you? If that word could speak to you what would it say?

And now say the word ‘play’ and once again, sense how you feel in your body. Listen to the sound, tone and pitch of the word. Write the word play on a piece of paper as you did earlier with the word work. Now play with writing the word play.
Notice a difference in the two? What do the two words look like?
Now imagine working with play as a guiding creative force.

Exciting?

Yes. Very.

The Nia Technique gives me a very pliable tool to use for a variety of work related processes from; brainstorming, marketing, motivation, energy management and physical intelligence.
My personal vision is that in order to be effective and happy at work you need to:

• Feel good about yourself
• Feel good about what you do and how you do it
• Feel good about those around you
• Create the environment you want to work in and love it

I create this using music, movement, meditation and this itself generates magic. The ‘magic’ if you like, is the ‘missing link’ then gives the creative solution – the inspiration.   

Sometimes we are lucky to be visited by inspiration; it just comes to us – and often at the strangest unusual moments. However there is a way to access it with more certainty. By connecting to the body, using the Nia Technique you work with your essential energy – the life force energy called prana or ki. In Nia we call this the sensation of JOY and it feels like a vibrant tingling vital feeling of being alive in the body. When we enter into JOY through the practice of Nia we can become much more physically intelligent by tapping into creative source.

I have developed a handful of offerings that use the Nia Technique as a guiding tool together with my own professional experience in business and creative consulting to deliver more happiness, more vitality, more joy, more play, more fun and more calm.
